Travis Kelce may be dating Taylor Swift, but don’t ask him to sing one of Swift’s songs in front of a room full of sports journalists.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end cutely pivoted after a reporter tried to goad him into singing a lyric from Swift’s song “Karma” during a pre-Super Bowl press conference on Feb. 8.

Swift famously changed one of the song’s lyrics to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me,” swapping the original word “screen” for “Chiefs,” while performing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Nov. 11 with Kelce in the audience.

When the reporter at the Feb. 8 press conference asked Kelce to finish the lyric “Karma is the guy on the ______,” the athlete, whose team takes on the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 11, gamely obliged by responding, “‘Chiefs,’ of course.”

But when the reporter pushed Kelce to continue the song, the football star simply smiled and asked for the reporter’s next question, as others in the room burst into laughter.

During the same press conference, another reporter asked Kelce why he believed the public was so “fascinated” with his and Swift’s powerhouse romance.

“I think the values that we stand for and just who we are as people,” responded Kelce. “We love to shine light on others, shine light around the people that help and support us, and on top of that, I feel like we both have just a love for life.”

Kelce reflected on the origins of his relationship with Swift during an earlier pre-Super Bowl press conference on Feb. 7, explaining that when he publicly revealed that he tried to give Swift his phone number back in July 2023, he “never thought it would have landed.”

Kelce famously “shot his shot” with the singer on his podcast, “New Heights,” when he shared that he wanted to meet Swift after a Kansas City “Eras Tour” show and give her a friendship bracelet with his “number” on it.

When his brother and co-host, Jason, asked for clarity on if he meant his jersey or cellphone number, the tight end simply said, “You know which one.”

Looking back, Kelce couldn’t have anticipated what was to come.

“I didn’t even think I would have gotten a response from her,” he said ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl.

As to how he feels now?

“We’re here and we’re all happy, I know that,” he said at the press conference.
