Simone Biles also got screwed at the 2024 Paris Olympics..
While the gymnastics competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics ended more than a month ago, new controversies continue to emerge from the women’s individual floor competition.
Team USA’s Jordan Chiles continues to fight the bronze she received for the floor final before it was stripped away following a polarizing decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Chiles’ attorneys filed an appeal with the Swiss Federal Tribunal this week. That filing included video evidence that shows Team USA coach Cecile Landi successfully inquired about Chiles’ difficulty level score within the one-minute window. CAS claimed the inquiry came four seconds too late.
After the video evidence was shared on social media, viewers noticed Landi also attempted to inquire about Simone Biles’ score believing she didn’t receive full credit for her split leap, per USA Today. If that inquiry had been successful, Biles would’ve received an another .10 and won the gold medal over Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, but it was never registered.
Biles ultimately earned a 14.133 in the floor final, .033 points behind Andrade’s final score. While fans were livid over Biles being denied what would’ve been her eighth gold medal, the 27-year-old has already made peace with situation.
Biles posted on Tuesday (Sept. 17), “honestly not a big deal for me, Rebeca had a better floor anyways 🫶🏽 upsetting how it wasn’t processed but I’m not mad at the results. BUT JUSTICE FOR JORDAN 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ ya hear me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Biles, who’s already the most-decorated gymnast in U.S. history, wants to keep the focus on Chiles, and fans loved her gracious response. One person replied, “This is why you are my favourite athlete. You aren’t ego driven and I see many trying to impose that on you. You are amazing.”
Another fan wrote, “Thank you for always being so great with Rebeca, we really appreciate your friendship and we want to see you together again soon. We love you.” One woman commented, “An absolute queen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.”
