Prince William just announced a major royal shake-up as he revealed a key individual is stepping down.
On April 17, Prince William, 42, shared that Earthshot Prize CEO Hannah Jones decided to “pass the baton” and step down from her role after four years in the position.
Jason Knauf, the former chief executive officer of William’s Royal Foundation, will take her place as CEO this summer.
“As the first CEO, Hannah has built the prize into a world-class organisation with an incredible team,” Prince William said in a statement.
He added that she “power[ed] a platform for speeding solutions to scale, and catalysing a movement to encourage young people, spark imaginations and infuse urgent optimism across the world.”
Jones will continue to “provide strategic advice on innovation and sustainability to Kensington Palace,” according to the news release.
Meanwhile, Prince William expressed optimism about Knauf’s capabilities.
He explained, “As we look ahead to the future of the prize and the urgent work needed to scale more inspiring solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, I look forward to working with Jason to chart the course for the next five years of The Earthshot Prize and beyond.”
Prince William founded the Earthshot Prize to identify “game-changing innovations that will repair our planet, helping them to grow and awarding the very best five solutions each year with £1 million each to scale their work,” according to the organization’s website.
