Exclusive: Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce Receive Massive NFLPA Bonus

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s eventful yet profitable offseason continued as Sportico reported that the Chiefs’ superstar duo combined to make an additional $6 million from the NFLPA’s distribution of group licensing and marketing income.

The NFL distributes annual income to important players and figures, even retired ones, and Mahomes led all involved by making $3.6 million. Kelce soared to fourth at $2.4 million, trailing Mahomes, Jalen Hurts ($2.7 million), and Josh Allen ($2.5 million).

With Kelce’s entertainment career starting to blossom and Mahomes’ off-field ventures gaining steam as well, the two appear to be handsomely paid by a variety of deals.

Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico explains, “The earnings are from all group licensing deals, which include those for multiple players negotiated through the NFLPA, such as video games, jerseys and trading cards. Players get paid royalties based on sales of items like jerseys.”
Nearly every player received at least $32,000, so this is a system that allows most to profit from. Considering the Chiefs’ difficult schedule loaded with marquee games, it’s likely Kansas City will once again be at the forefront of the NFL’s marketing plan.
That means Mahomes, Kelce and guys like Chris Jones stand in line to get another large payday next year. If the Chiefs become the first team in league history to win three straight Super Bowls (+600 at FanDuel Sportsbook), those numbers will only keep going up.
