My husband blames Taylor Swift for ruining our relationship – he says I’m obsessed but I think he’s just JEALOUS of Travis Kelce

A devoted Taylor Swift fan has railed against her husband of six years is blaming her ‘obsession’ with the popstar for ruining their relationship.

The concerned wife took to Reddit to share her horror at learning her spouse’s true feelings about her Swiftie status, while asking for advice from fellow users about how to best handle the situation.

Titling the post ‘Am I ruining my relationship by being a Taylor Swift fan?’ the 28-year-old woman – posting under the name Skating-Barbie – revealed that her husband, 30, had recently confessed her ‘obsession with Taylor Swift’ was giving him ‘the ick’.

‘He feels our relationship has taken a backseat to Taylor Swift – namely with regards to him receiving a lack of affirmation/attention,’ she continued.

In the Reddit post, the user, who has been with her partner for eight years in total, shared that her love for the songwriter began in high school, when Taylor’s 2017 Reputation album was released.

‘I have always really enjoyed music, especially as a way to remember significant moments in my life or processing through emotions – music is my outlet,’ she wrote.

‘Her fanbase has a pretty broad spectrum, as does any artist, and I have become more of a fan this year but I wouldn’t call it obsessive.’

The user further explained that, as someone who has ADHD, she has a habit of ‘enjoying listening to songs/albums all the way through often,’ and finds that Taylor’s albums take up the ‘majority of [her] listening.’

She noted that unlike her partner, who mostly focuses on the music aspect, she intently ‘enjoys listening to the lyrics,’ particularly because she Taylor is ‘very talented lyrically.’

The user also finds the finds the ‘fan theories’ surrounding Taylor’s album releases highly interesting, although she doesn’t personally ‘subscribe to [them] or engage with them.’

When it comes to merch, she conceded that she does buy Taylor’s vinyl, however she doesn’t purchase her T-shirts or other tour collectibles.

She has also spent some time making friendship bracelets because she had tickets to see Taylor live for the first time, during the summer.

And while she often plays her music while she’s cooking and cleaning, she is mindful to not do so if her partner is close by.

The pair has also agreed on the rule that whoever is driving ‘has control of the radio,’ therefore, she also doesn’t play Taylor in the car.

While Taylor is touring, the user often tunes in to watch Taylor’s ‘surprise songs or [the] two different songs [that] she plays at each show.’

During the summer, she watched those moments live ‘because she thought it was cool to watch [them] at the same time as thousands of fans,’ however, she explained that she ‘wouldn’t necessarily go out of [her] way to watch them live, especially now that she’s in a different time zone.’

When she attended the Eras tour with her friend, she shared that she ‘did not drag [her] significant other with [her],’ and she ‘did not dress up or dance/sing during the show’ either.

Since Taylor has been dating Travis Kelce, 34, however, the user admitted that she does consistently follow their relationship, because she enjoys ‘seeing her happy.’

She confessed: ‘I think this is the biggest one that upsets my partner, as he feels he will never measure up to Travis.

‘Of note, I do not compare their relationship to ours. I do not think Travis is the epitome of the most amazing boyfriend.

‘I just appreciate the way they both support one another and [I] enjoy seeing it play out (I don’t think I’m alone in this, [as] several of my friends have also mentioned they feel captivated by their relationship, without understanding why).’

She asked Reddit users: ‘Does this seem obsessive? I am trying to take what my partner said to heart, but I also don’t want to minimize something I enjoy for the sake of his ego.

‘I feel like from what I see on social media, there are people who are way more obsessed with the “lore,” theories, where she goes, what she wears, etc., but maybe I am more on that spectrum than I think, and I need to reel it in.

‘I just need a non-biased opinion, because I’m starting to second guess myself. It should also be important to mention [that] I work 50 plus hours a week, as does he.

‘Our main forms of connecting throughout the weeknights are sending one another funny videos on social media, or watching a show together.’

She continued: ‘To note also, I do have other interests – this is not my only interest or hobby. I have several shows [that] I enjoy watching, spending time with pets, with friends, cooking, etc.

‘I currently already pull back from sharing anything TS-related with him, because he just seems to get annoyed or frustrated, but now I will likely avoid sharing anything at all, or listening to the music when he’s around.
