The surprising demand for Taylor Swift’s homemade Pop-Tarts that Chiefs players loved

Football fans and baked goods purveyors alike were sent into a frenzy this week, when Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed that Taylor Swift won over his offensive linemen by bringing them homemade Pop-Tarts during the 2023 season. Since that admission, a search has gotten underway as to the details within Swift’s recipe — and Friday saw the hunt take on a whole new dimension.

A full-page advertisement in Friday’s print edition of the Kansas City Star saw Pop-Tarts itself playfully request Swift’s recipe — for a good cause — while making a reference to the “Exile” songwriter’s upcoming album, due out in around six weeks.

“Let’s make a deal”

Pop-Tarts, a brand owned by multinational food manufacturing conglomerate Kellanova, addressed Swift as “KC’s most famous fan” to begin its bold statement in Kansas City’s newspaper of record.

“We heard you have a Pop-Tarts pastry recipe,” the statement read. “We’re tortured not knowing more about this DIY delight. What’s the filling? Does it have frosting? Do they have little holes?”

“We heard you have a Pop-Tarts pastry recipe,” the statement read. “We’re tortured not knowing more about this DIY delight. What’s the filling? Does it have frosting? Do they have little holes?”

“Tortured,” of course, is a reference to “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift’s highly-anticipated 11th studio album that is set for release on April 19. The album figures to become an instant #1 record atop the Billboard 200, which Swift dominated throughout 2023. And the public may soon hear about much more than her music or her romance with Chiefs star Travis Kelce.

“Let’s make a deal,” the statement continued. “We are making a donation to Harvesters, a local Feeding America partner food bank, and will double it if you share (your version) of our recipe with the masses.”

As of Friday afternoon, Swift has not yet responded to the request, but there appears to be one further condition — if the recipe goes public, Reid will get a taste.

“And this time, we’ll make sure Coach gets a bite,” the statement ended. “You in?”
