Earlier this week Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman made a few comments that caught the attention of the football world.

Hardman lamented his time with the New York Jets, but made a potentially harmful comment in the process. During his interview with “The Pivot,” hosted by Ryan Clark, Hardman called out the Jets culture and his lack of playing time.

The former wideout was so frustrated by his time in New York that he openly admitted to potential tampering.

“I’m telling you right now, I was so checked out, like, it was over with,” he said in the podcast. “I had already talked to [Chiefs GM Brett] Veach and Pat [Mahomes], like, ‘Come get me.'”

During a meeting with the media at the NFL Combine on Wednesday, Jets general manager Joe Douglas admitted he heard Hardman’s comments.

“I’ll just say those comments definitely resonated with us,” he told reporters, via ESPN. It’s unclear if the Jets plan to contact the league about a potential tampering violation or not.

In the meantime, Hardman attempted to clarify his comments.

“Never had talks with KC before the trade, so we can CLEAR THAT UP!” Hardman said on social media. “The Jets handled my trade on their own and did the right thing by sending me back to KC!”

Should the Jets call on the NFL to investigate the matter?
