There were ripples of royal disappointment throughout Ascot after it was revealed that Kate Middleton had pulled out of her scheduled appearance last week. The questions came rolling in: Was the Princess of Wales feeling healthy? When might the world see her next? The answers are still up in the air, but if recent insider scoops are anything to go by, it seems we can expect to see Catherine next week at one of her favourite annual events: Wimbledon.
According to MailOnline, Kate will refrain from carrying out any public engagements this week, but it is ‘very likely’ that she will make her way to SW19, where she can often be seen enjoying a spot of tennis from the Royal Box. As Patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, the Princess of Wales is a regular at the Grand Slam, which begins on 30 June, and any appearance among the crowds would no doubt be a happy reminder of last year’s Wimbledon, when the royal received a standing ovation as she made her second public appearance following the announcement of her cancer diagnosis last February.

It was 14 July, and the mother-of-three was in glowing spirits as she waved to the waiting fans who had gathered to watch Novak Djokovic take on Carlos Alcaraz in the Gentlemen’s Singles final, a match that Alcaraz would go on to win. The Princess donned a vibrant purple gown by Safiyaa for the occasion, pairing the look with simple nude accessories. She wore her hair swept into her trademark bouncy blow-dry style and opted for a neutral makeup look. She was joined by her daughter Princess Charlotte for the occasion, who wore a pretty navy polkadot dress.
It would certainly be another style moment were Catherine to return to Centre Court over the next fortnight, and no doubt she would be welcomed with equal fervour to take part in her treasured tradition. Could it be another outing for Princess Charlotte, too? The speculation comes as royal experts note that the Princess of Wales’s return to public duties is happening ‘on her own terms’, as Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, told Hello!

‘Kate might be back, but she’s doing it sensibly, and on her own terms,’ Seward said. ‘Her priorities have changed, and she’s listening to her body instead of being a people pleaser. She’s absolutely got to be strict with herself and say: “No, I can’t do this.”’
It is also unknown whether the Princess will join King Charles as he welcomes Emmanuel Macron on a state visit to Britain from 8-10 July. The French President and the First Lady, Brigitte Macron, will be staying at Windsor Castle for the trip, where they will be honoured with a state banquet.

Last December, Kate welcomed the Emir of Qatar and his wife, Sheika Jawaher, to Horse Guards Parade, alongside Prince William and King Charles. The ceremonial welcome saw the Qatari royal couple introduced to Prime Minister Keir Starmer and a plethora of British dignitaries, before moving to the front of the Dais with His Majesty The King. The Guard of Honour then gave a royal salute, and the sound of the Qatari National Anthem rang out throughout the Mall. Both the Emir and the King then inspected the Guard, before an illustrious carriage procession brought the royals to Buckingham Palace for lunch.
Kate Middleton is known for her diplomatic dressing, and the Qatari state visit was no exception. Opting for a burgundy dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, the Princess perfectly matched the colour of Qatar’s national flag.
Now, it seems as though Kate will be serving up another classic Windsor look at Wimbledon this year. Here’s hoping!
