“BREAKING: Angel Reese Steals the Show! Chicago Sky Makes Surprising Announcement After Tough Loss to Liberty “

The Chicago Sky suffered an 85-66 loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday night, dropping their record to 2-6. With the victory, New York improved its WNBA-best record to 9-0 and kept pace with the Minnesota Lynx as the league’s two undefeated teams in 2025.
While this was another blowout loss for Chicago, there were some areas of improvement. One notable development was the performance of second-year forward Angel Reese.

For Reese, who entered the game averaging 9.1 points and 12.3 rebounds, this was her fourth double-double of the season.
As has become standard for the Sky after every contest, the team named a Player of the Game despite the blowout loss. For Tuesday’s game against New York, the Sky announced this honor had been awarded to Reese.
“double-double from A5 in the BIG tonight,” the team wrote.
Reese set the WNBA’s all-time record for consecutive double-doubles last season when she tallied 15 straight as a rookie. She led the league in rebounds per game, and briefly held the league’s single-season rebounding record before an injury ended her season and allowed Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson to pass her mark.
Reese entered Tuesday’s game atop the WNBA’s rebounds per game list this season, with Liberty center Jonquel Jones second on the list. Jones did not play against Chicago due to a sprained ankle.
The Sky must regroup before returning to action on Friday against the Atlanta Dream.
